7 Inches Of Snow In Mississippi !?!

I have had a GREAT day today. Living in Mississippi, we do not get very many snow days. However, today with about 7 in. everything in and around Tupelo was shut down. I can not begin to express the joy I felt when I walked outside this morning at 7 a.m. A blanket of peace fell over me as I stood on my porch looking around the vast white covered earth. All you heard was children yelling and four-wheelers ripping and romping down the roads. I had absolutely nothing to do and nothing I could do. All there was in Sherman, Misssissippi today was FUN!

First things first, I had to layer up before I began my day of play. I had about 5 shirts on, pullover, and an outer jacket. I had sooo many layers on my bottom half that I had to borrow a pair of Joel's pants because none of mine would fit over me. Also, I only had on about 3 pairs of socks with my pink rain boots. After I made myself into a moving snowman the day began. I was outside taking pictures when Joel came balling down the road on the four-wheeler. The smile on his face was as if he was a six year old on Christmas morning. We rode around Sherman awhile and then we HAD to check on my four legged babies. For those of you that don't know, I have a bunch of four legged children. These babies are cows. Beautiful, playful, young cows. The road to the pasture was absolutely breath taking. Not many cars had ventured out, so the snow on the road didn't have many tracks. The trees were drooping over making it feel like you were driving into a winter wonderland. After we made sure everything in the pasture was ok we went back into Sherman to get Joel's 80 year old mamaw out and about in the snow. Needless to say, she had ventured out on her own already. Joel, his mamaw, and mom built a snowman in the front yard. Ms. Edith said that she couldn't remember the last time she had got to build one. Before it was over, they had a grand momma snowman and two little grandchildren snowmen. I like to think of the little ones being Joel and Will (we missed you!). After the snow people were built Joel and Ms. Edith's brother, Leland, pulled Ms. Edith around on the sled through the yard. We all were pretty much frozen after all this.

After a short warm-up/rest/lunch we got back at it. This time we ventured out in the truck. I wouldn't say the roads were bad, but my car would not have made it down so of the roads we went down. We rode back roads from Sherman to Tupelo and back. I took many pictures on this trip and saw a lot of snow people. Another thing we saw a lot of was people sledding behind four-wheelers and sliding down large slopes. I was itching to get back and begin our sledding adventure.

We got back to Joel's house, hooked up an old bedlinner to the four-wheeler and took off. At first, Joel took it easy on me. By the end he was just plain showing out. I showed him what I was made of and only fell off once. I don't think he trusted me pulling him around because he kept coming up with the, "I don't want to get wet." excuse when I asked him if he wanted to ride. I was ready to go inside after a little while of plowing through the snow. To say I was freezing is an understatement.

All in all, we had a very fun, worry free, uneventful, child like snow day. For once in a long time our worries stopped and memories began. We did it big in the snow, Southern Style of course.

Until next time, best of luck. Bye y'all!

1:22 am Thanksgiving 2010

As I sit here watching Grey's Anatomy EARLY Thanksgiving morning, I'm thinking of everything I have to be thankful for. So here it goes:
1. Being alive and in good health.
2. Having a stable job and working with people I love.
3. Having a roof over my head and providing this on my own.
4. My family, I have a GREAT family. Especially my three little brothers. Words can't express the love I have for them.
5. My other half, Joel Micah Sheffield. BTW, these aren't in any order.
6. Being the person my mom and Mimi taught me to be.
On a lighter note:
Sweet tea, cereal, flat screen tvs, GLEE, blankets, canvas and paint, my dog, summers on THE porch, swimming pools, summer in general, Crown Royal, backroads, cowboy boots, hair products, candles, music, movie nights, police that work night and day to keep me safe, cheese and crackers, brunch at the stables and this list could go on and on.
Even though I do not have the best of everything, I do have a ton to be thankful for. As your celebrating Turkey day later on sit back and ponder on what you are thankful for.
Best of luck until next time....Bye Ya'll!
